The Sharikasandesha of Ramapanivada is a Sanskrit message poem recently discovered by the present editor. The lyric consisting of 122 stanzas occupies a prominent place among the devotional poems in general and Sandeshakavyas in particular. The heroine, a cowherd damsel of Vrindavan, sends the parrot to Lord Krishna consecrated in the famous shrine at Ambaranadi (Ampalappuzha) in Kerela with her message of love and devotion. The work also has some historical, social, and cultural significance and throws new light on these aspects of Kerela of the 18th century.
